Greater Philadelphia Area

Javier Garay - Program Director

Javier is the Engineering For Kids program director for the Greater Philadelphia Area. He is the son of a chemical engineer and a stay-at-home mom who stressed the importance of critical thinking and intellectual curiosity. Javier attended Harvard College where he majored in Economics and later received an MBA in Entrepreneurship from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He spent twelve years honing his analytical skills at various Wall Street firms before making the switch to Engineering For Kids.

As a father of three, Javier understands that children are natural born engineers who have unlimited imaginations and unbridled enthusiasm. He is passionate about helping children tap into their potential by exposing them to the role that engineers play in our daily lives. This is done through fun, hands-on experiments that aim to spark a lifelong passion for learning in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Welcome to Engineering For Kids!

We, at the Greater Philadelphia Engineering For Kids, are passionate about our programs because we believe that early exposure to STEM education has a lasting impact on a child's future. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is on record as saying that a student's experience with STEM coursework has proven to be an important indicator for overall college readiness and postsecondary success. Furthermore, STEM education serves as the foundation for many of today's growing careers, such as media, medicine, biotechnology and engineering.

At Engineering For Kids, we put the excitement in STEM education by offering fun, hands-on learning for children ages 4 to 14. Our offering includes activities that range from building rockets and roller coasters to making foam and flub to programming video games and robots. The variety of programming is extraordinary!
